Join Our Board

The Jazz Promotion Network (JPN) has an ambitious mission – to support, develop and inspire the jazz sector in all its different forms, across the whole of the UK and Ireland. We are a collaborative network that aims to enable the diverse UK & Irish jazz sector to thrive and innovate.

We are now looking for dynamic, forward thinking, new voices to diversify our board and bring fresh perspectives to the conversation. If you are involved in jazz in any sector (e.g. promoter, performer, educator, sound engineer, radio broadcaster etc) then we would love to hear from you. For information about what we do, including our innovative Routes into Jazz programme see here.

What is involved in being a Trustee?

We are looking first and foremost for people with enthusiasm and commitment to the idea of a UK/Ireland network. You will be able to help drive forward the direction of our strategy. Currently JPN is reliant on a mixture of project funding from the five different arts funding organisations across the UK/Ireland, sponsorship (mainly for the conference) and membership income. This means that trustees have to take on many of the practical tasks associated with our activities. JPN’s aim is to raise sufficient funds to employ longer term staff working on admin, marketing and finance.

The latest version of the JPN Constitution is HERE; we are a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). Our latest published annual report is available via the Charity Commission website HERE. If you want to know more about what’s involved in becoming a Charity Trustee, there’s a useful guide produced by the Charity Commission that you can find in this document. Charity trustee: what’s involved (CC3a)

Meetings: are held online approximately 4 times per year, plus additional working group meetings as required. Meetings last 2-3 hours. Days/times rotate to allow flexibility.

Conference: you will be supported to attend the annual in person conference – travel expenses and accommodation.

Who are we looking for?

We are particularly keen to recruit young people (aged up to 35) in the early stage of their careers and from a wide range of sectors. We would also welcome applications from under-represented groups. Female, LGBTQ and/or gender diverse, global majority or Gypsy/Traveller applicants, as well as applicants with a disability and/or from a low income background are encouraged to apply. It is essential that the Board represents the range of people and communities involved in the UK and Irish jazz scenes.

We are particularly interested in hearing from people with experience in:

  • Fundraising
  • Grassroots promotion
  • AI
  • Environmental sustainability
  • Communications and marketing

The AGM (including the election of Trustees) will take place online from 6-7pm on Thursday 23rdJuly; potential candidates will be asked to give a brief presentation (max 3 minutes), speaking to the statement already submitted.
