Emerging Talent Scheme
Emerging Talent
We’re delighted to announce that we have been successful in gaining Arts Council England funding for a pilot Emerging Talent scheme, providing a unique opportunity for young bands to perform a series of double bill concerts at established jazz venues and receive mentoring and advice.
The four bands selected are all led by recent alumni of Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and Leeds College of Music, and were showcased at the 2017 JPN conference: Samantha Wright Quintet, Bela Horvath Trio, Josh Schofield Quartet, and Morpher. Dates on the October tour include London, Sheffield, Birmingham, Nottingham, Bristol and Lyme.
We hope that this pilot will lead to a much wider scheme that will benefit young musicians from across the UK from a full range of musical, educational, and social backgrounds.
The idea and funding bid were developed jointly by JPN members Jez Matthews and Tony Dudley-Evans, with guidance being provided by the JPN Board.
